This piece by Ann Pettifer, is disturbing on two levels. Her main argument is that neo-conservative Jews are taking over U.S. foreign policy. Moreover, criticism of these Jewish neo-cons is stifled because Jews in the media and the media in general, don’t want to state this bluntly because of the anti-semitism bug-a-boo.
What is disturbing, on the one hand, is that these charges are typical anti-semitic canards – straight out of the “Protocols of the Elders.” But on the other hand, what is even more disturbing, is that it’s hard not to agree with Pettifer!
I was roundly castigated on NoWarBlog for making a similar argument. I actually modified my arguments, because it is hard to state unequivically that Jews have “taken over” U.S. foreign policy. But there is no question that Jewish neo-cons hold key positions in the Bush administration and strongly influence U.S. Middle East policy. And there is also no question that these neo-cons have adopted Jabotinskian colonialist Zionism as their creed.
Finally, as I have written in the past, there is also no question that anyone who points this out, or otherwise criticizes Israel and Zionism, is quickly branded as anti-semitic or a self-hating Jew.
