I needed some comic relief today. The news is too horrible.

Bush’s speech, in which the word terror played such a prominent role, reminded me of the last televised speech I saw of Arik Sharon. It was after the horrible attack in the Netanya hotel at the Passover seder in 2001.

The camera focused on Sharon, his beady eyes darting back and forth. After about 30 seconds he asks: “We on?” and begins his speech:

“Terror, terror, terror, mumble mumble, terror, terror, mumble, terrorists, mumble, terror…”

This lasted for about two minutes, literally. All you heard was the word terror. Then he abrubtly stopped. The camera focused on him for another 20 seconds, again his eyes darted back and forth. Then someone figured out it was time to shut off the camera.

Bush may be slicker than Sharon, but they are both leaders dragging their countries over the cliff. They throw the “terror” word at us hoping to shut our minds off. How long will it take, how many people must die, until people realize: these men and their path are leading us straight to hell.
