Yesterday’s New York Times had an article about how the current Gaza war has overwhelming support in Israel. I have no doubt that is true. But, except for serving as a vehicle to get the “Israeli viewpoint” across, this article is not newsworthy.

Although I am an optimist by nature, the depth of ugliness to which human beings can go, never surprises me. Humans often try to distinguish ourselves from animals. I would say that the only distinction between humans and animals, is that we are the only species that is intentionally cruel.
