Danny Rubenstein describes the typical Arab reaction to events in Iraq.
“Once again Arab TV stations are discussing the reasons for the weaknesses and retardation of their culture. They discuss the rhetorical bragging – Iraqi Information Minister Muhammad Said Sahaf in particular – and condemn the Arab rulers as “modern sultans” who want their people to be only sycophants, whose efforts to acquire Western technology have turned their countries into deserts of imported consumer trash – “one huge flea market” as the Syrian poet, Nazar Kabani calls it.”
