Those who have followed this weblog for a long time are aware of my ambivalence towards organized religion. As my wise number one son said on the subject: “First they tell you to love your neighbor, then they give you the list of people to kill.” Nonetheless, this extended meditation, written two years ago, best expresses my feelings on the matter.

This year, the synagogue mentioned in the above article, end their services with a worthy prayer:

“Od yavo shalom aleinu v’al kulam”
“Shalom, aleinu v’al kol ha’olam, shalom, salaam”

“May peace come to us and to all.”
“Peace, to us and to the whole world.”
“Shalom, Salaam, Peace.”
