Sticking to the focus on solutions, and not problems, here is another interesting article about how the UN international intervention in Kosovo may serve as a model for Israel-Palestine.
A word of caution for those who still believe a “Jewish” state or a “Palestinian” state is still a viable long-term solution. “Democratic” and “ethnic purity” are inherently contradictory. Political entities based on concept of ethnicity are a sure recipe for strife. Israel and Palestine both need to be multi-ethnic societies, and they both must allow for free and open borders and movements of people, along the lines of the EC.
“The aim of the international community in the Balkans is the creation of democratic institutions and multi-ethnic societies in which the rights of minority groups are fully respected.”
It’s also time to acknowlege that the UN and the international approach is part of the solution, as well.
