For the first time in eighteen years, we are able to read Mordechai Vanunu’s own account of what he did and what his motivations were. He compares himslef at the end to Natan Sharansky who was convicted as a spy by the Soviets. The analogy is apt, particularly in terms of the harsh treatment Vanunu received, which is not much different than how Sharansky was treated, perhaps even worse. Putting a man 11 years in solitary confinement is an act of barbarism only found in totalitarian regimes.
