Yossi Klein Halevi is one of those “compassionate” conservative commentators (triple-Cs) that have proliferated over the past few years. Wolves in sheep’s clothing, so to speak. They use the language of the progressive, stressing their committment to humanistic values. Scratch the surface just a bit and you find the same old, same old.
In this piece which appeared in the Saturday Times, Halevi argues that he and other Israelis have bent over backwards in their sympathy to the Palestinians. All they have gotten in return is a “terrorist war.” Of course, Halevi makes his points through a series of lies and obfuscations. The underlying tone is that of the arrogant colonialist preaching to the upstart natives, who just don’t seem to appreciate how wonderful their oppression really is. Halevi, like all the triple-Cs, manages to present his variation on an old theme in a far more sophisticated way than the old-style conservatives. So we give his screed a more in-depth analysis, to expose the heart of darkness at its center.
